The Cottage - 34 Lewis Street, Mudgee NSW 2850
Mortimer Lewis was the Colonial Architect at the time the town of Mudgee was proclaimed and when John Jacob Kerney was crown grantee of the land where the cottage stands it is believed he built this cottage in the late 1950's - 1860.
In recent times the cottage was the home of resident artist Wendy Layton and for many years it was operated as an art gallery.
Now tastefully renovated into a charming two bedroom, self contained cottage getaway. One queen bedroom and one double, The cottage Mudgee B&B accommodation is ideal for two couples or a small family to enjoy a town and country stay. Fully equipped kitchen, large lounge-room with TV/DVD/CD, great garden, fully air conditioned and off street parking. All linen provided and continental breakfast provisions. A short walk to the centre of town with cafes, restaurants, library, museum and parks or a ten minute drive to the wineries.
The Tannery - 48 Lawson Street, Mudgee NSW 2850
In 1858 a saddler by trade, James Dixon Little was operating the Australian Tannery at the rear of this site and it is believed that the present cottage was built by Little in the late 1850's as accomodation for workers at the tannery.
The cottage though now renovated has retained much of its natural charm. Catering for one or two couples, there is a comfortable lounge with open fire, two bedrooms (one queen and one double) with luxurious linen, comfortable beds, a fabulous dining room and the industrial stainless steel kitchen compliments the simple style of the early Victorian era.
An enclosed garden with covered verandah to sit and read the papers, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, before strolling down the road to the town to the local markets or one of the many cafes - the best of both worlds.
With off street parking, TV/DVD/CD - a getaway with modern and old charm to please the senses. Just a short drive to the wineries to taste some of Mudgee's best at the friendly cellar doors and then off to one of the great eateries - bliss!
